Agricultural Solar

Solar options for farms and pumps.

Agricultural solar covers very different things: standalone solar pumps, solarising an existing grid-connected pump, rooftop systems on farm buildings and small solar plants on farmland. We help you understand which applies to you.

We consider agricultural solar projects case by case. Tell us about yours and we will confirm whether we can help.

Why it can make sense

What agricultural solar can offer

  • Daytime pumping from the sun

Solar pumps run during daylight hours, when irrigation is typically needed.

  • Less dependence on diesel

Where pumps run on diesel, solar can reduce fuel spending and maintenance.

  • Official scheme routes

PM-KUSUM is implemented through state agencies — we point you to the correct official channel.

  • Farm buildings

Rooftop systems on farm buildings follow the rules for their connection category.

    Pump versus rooftop

A solar pump, pump solarisation and a rooftop system have different eligibility rules and economics.

  2. 2

Free agricultural power in Tamil Nadu

Agricultural pump connections in Tamil Nadu receive free electricity, so savings are usually compared with diesel rather than grid bills.

  3. 3

    Scheme availability

PM-KUSUM application windows are set by state agencies. Whether new applications are open must be checked on official sources.

  4. 4

    Water source and pump size

Bore depth, water requirement and existing pump capacity determine the system needed.

Questions

Agricultural Solar: common questions

Can Solar Harvezt apply for PM-KUSUM on my behalf?

PM-KUSUM applications are made through the state implementing agency. We can help you understand the process and find the official channel, but cannot guarantee allocation.

Is PM-KUSUM open for new applications?

We have not verified that new applications are being accepted. Please check pmkusum.mnre.gov.in and your state agency for the current status.

Will a solar pump work on cloudy days?

Output falls in cloudy weather, so pumping hours reduce. Sizing considers your water requirement and seasonal conditions.
